Conference Details

United States Air Force Academy
Colorado Springs, CO
October 11-13, 2023

As we near the Conference, we wanted to let you know how thrilled we are that you will be joining us at the amazing USAFA campus in October and share a few logistics with you.

Getting to Colorado Springs: If flying to Colorado, there are two airports that you can use:  Denver International Airport (just over an hour from Colorado Springs) and Colorado Springs Airport (about 30 minutes from the Academy). Denver offers more direct flights than Colorado Springs Airport, and it has a full range of rental cars.  Although further away, the drive from Denver to Colorado Springs is a simple and straightforward one.

For those interested in carpooling/ridesharing out of Denver, here is a link to a Google document for you to provide your information with other panelists and organize rides among yourselves.

Shuttles To/From the Host Hotels: The WHHR Conference Committee has made arrangements to bring attendees to and from the conference from both of the host hotels at the start and end of each day (Great Wolf Lodge and the Drury Inn). Shuttle times: 5:00 pm pickup on Wednesday evening for the reception and return once it’s over. 7:20 am pick up on Thursday and Friday mornings and drop off after the last event of each day. The shuttle will wait until 7:30 before leaving. Please note that space is limited, so we ask that you fill out this brief survey to indicate whether or not you need transportation.

Getting Around: Ubers/Lyfts are also plentiful in the area for those who will not be renting a car or using the shuttle service.

For those with GPS and a rental car (or rideshare), enter “Arnold Hall” as your destination for each day of the conference. There are two entrances to the Academy – North Gate and South Gate.  Plan to use North Gate; it is the most convenient for guests to use – located off exit 156 (North Gate Boulevard) on I-25. Be prepared to show your official id/passport at the gate. Once through the gate, continue straight on North Gate Boulevard, which will turn into Academy Drive, for about 3 miles, and turn left on Cadet Drive. Follow the signs for Arnold Hall and the conference. Park in the visitors’ parking lots.

For Presenters: Keep your total presentation time to 15-20 minutes. Please keep in mind that we have no flexibility on time, so if you run late, your panel chair will stop you at 20 minutes so that everyone in the panel has time to present and still have time for Q&A.

A/V for PowerPoints: if you will be showing a PowerPoint, please bring it in multiple formats (thumb drive, email, cloud, etc.). We cannot guarantee a dedicated computer for you to use, so if you are able to bring a laptop, we strongly encourage you to do so.

Conference App: Download our conference app for up-to-date information about the conference schedule, venue maps, and other details. Available on Apple iOS and Google Android (forthcoming) platforms.

Luggage on Friday: We have arranged for a secure place to hold your luggage if you need to store it on Friday. Please check-in with the welcome desk when you arrive that day for assistance.

Additional Information: The Academy is on the north end of Colorado Springs, and there are a number of restaurants around.  Depending on your arrival and departure dates, you may be interested in exploring the surrounding area.  Downtown Colorado Springs offers shops, independently-owned restaurants, and cafes.  Just a bit further is Old Colorado City, which boasts great boutiques and food.  Garden of the Gods is just north of Old Colorado City.

For those of you who already live in Colorado Springs, we look forward to seeing you.  For those traveling to the conference, let us know if you need any information as you plan your October trip, and we are so excited that you will be joining us for the WHHR Conference!

Sincerely,

WHHR Conference Team
